Every year in June, tradition meets in Galicia. An ancient festival where wild horses are captured in the region of mountains and gathered in an arena (curros) to be subjugated, and dewormed, put a mark and cut the horsehair. Then they are released and returned to the mountains...

Luis Duarte was born in Braga on May 30th, 1971, and lives in Oporto, in the north of Portugal. His journey through photography starts in 1999 when he acquires the first reflex camera, and his evolution includes training in black & white darkroom and digital treatment at IPF (Portuguese Institute of Photography). More recently he started the photographic approach to alternative processes, obtain training in Platinum Palladium and Wet Collodion prints, and currently developing an “a la minute” camera project (Afghan Box Camera). His work is based in black & white film, and nowadays he is an active member of several photography communities on the internet, national and international, through which he takes part in exhibitions and other photo events.
